Saturday, January 31st, 2009

There are always home remedies such as natural yogurt and such that you can use but for best results you will very often find that the yeast infection rash treatment that you get from a doctor or over the counter at a pharmacy will work quicker and more effectively. Alongside these remedies however there are other things that you can do for effective yeast infection rash treatment.

First of all you must keep the area dry and well cleaned but without using chemical soaps or perfumed products. Barrier creams can be used at the same time which can be bought over the counter or prescribed from a doctor and can prove useful as yeast infection rash treatment for those that suffer recurrent bouts of the infection.

There are a number of antifungal creams that your doctor can prescribe for a yeast infection and this is particularly useful for the rash and tends to clean it up in a few short days, this may also be accompanied with an orally prescribed medication to combat the problem within the body and if you are looking for an over the counter yeast infection rash treatment then you will find that many companies have now started providing treatments that are the oral pill and the cream combined for a much quicker reaction time.

Treatment For Salmonella Infection

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

The infection manifests itself in the form of diarrhea and it is usually transmitted by eating contaminated foods of animal origin. Usually foods like beef, poultry, milk or eggs get contaminated by animal feces containing the bacteria and this leads to the infection. It is also possible to get the infection through contaminated vegetables and fruits. It is not unheard of people getting the infection after eating contaminated peanut butter.

Under normal circumstances, Salmonella infection does not require medical treatment and the infection goes away on its own after 5 to 7 days. However, when the infected person is severely dehydrated, medical intervention is necessary as it be fatal. Treatment is also required when the infection spreads from the intestine to the other parts of the body.

The spread of infection to other organs in the body is treated with antibiotics like ampicillin, gentamicin, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole or ciprofloxacin. Dehydration is treated either with intravenous or oral fluids, depending on the severity of the person’s condition.

Of late, treating Salmonella infection has become difficult because some of the bacteria have become resistant to antibiotics and experts believe that is because antibiotics are being used to encourage growth in feed animals. The infection is quite widespread in North America and Europe.
