1. The President’s Challenge – This program was designed by the government to help Americans get in shape. The fitness test comes with data collection forms and an online tool to enter your data and monitor your progress. The test includes an aerobic fitness test, a muscular strength and endurance test a flexibility test and a body composition test. This is really a very good overall test that anyone can use.

2. ExRX – This website is a free resource of over 2000 pages dedicated to exercise. The online tests are very detailed and broken into several categories. In addition to testing your fitness, you can read about other tests you need regarding your health, such as cholesterol tests.

3. Army Physical Fitness Test – This is the test used by the Army and Army Reserve. All soldiers must be able to pass this test which consists of a 2 mile run, and a pushup and situp test. The standards for pushups and sit ups, as well as the time required for completing the 2 mile run vary by age and gender. You’ll find the table here that tells you what you should be able to accomplish.

4. 30-15 Intermittent Fit Test – This is a simple test you can conduct at home as long as you have enough space in your yard. The test was designed for team sports players, where intermittent bursts of energy are required.

5. StrengthCoach –This site offers a variety of fitness tests, designed for use by sports coaches. No matter the sport you’re training for, you can find a great test here. 7. Green Beret Fitness Standards – The Green Beret Standards go above regular Army standards – and are similar in difficulty to the Navy Seal standards. Again, not a beginner’s challenge, but a great accomplishment.
