Is Herbalife a Profitable and Legit Opportunity?

Monday, January 4th, 2010

I decided to investigate an opportunity called Herbalife due to the number of scams running online, this is what I found out…

Founded in 1980, Herbalife International is a leading global nutrition, skincare, and weight loss company. It is currently distributing its various products in over 70 countries worldwide through a strong network of about 1.9 million independent distributors. As among the world’s biggest nutrition and health companies, the company is occasionally facing legal and safety challenges. However, as of the moment, none of those impediments and charges have been upheld anywhere in the world.

The product range of Herbalife is wide and is varied. It includes protein snacks, protein shakes, energy and health supplements, and of course personal care products. To date, Formula 1 protein shake is still the company’s top product. This soy-based meal replacement shake has been among the initial products produced and marketed by the company. The product range of Herbalife also notably includes many targeted products specifically for the digestive health, heart health, and skincare. There are products that are kosher, vegetarian, or halal. Most of Herbalife products are made by outside companies. However, the company is also maintaining its own manufacturing plant in China. Among the company’s major suppliers are Nature’s Bounty, JB Labs, PharmaChem Labs, and Italy’s Fine Foods. These brands account for up to 40% of Herbalife’s overall product purchases. The company is now operating a manufacturing facility in Lake Forest, California to further enhance its own global product development and supply chain for the benefit of its independent distributors.Independent distributors are earning from product sales and added commissions through Herbalife’s multilevel marketing scheme and compensation structure. It helps that the company is openly providing testimonials, endorsements, and advice from popular health professionals. Such a strategy is part of the company’s goal to further boost its product marketing ability. Herbalife distributors are allowed to employ their own marketing tactics and unique methods so they could recruit new down line distributors on their own.

Doctors Are In Short Supply

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Of course, it’s all the fault of “Dr. Kildare”. Had the original radio series not been such a success, it would never have been transferred to the TV screen, making Richard Chamberlain a star. This is not to say that physicians had escaped glamorisation before. There were movies showing surgeons as gods. But “Dr. Kildare” was the first prime-time series with a young hero leading an experienced cast in a hospital melodrama. As a result, society was finally convinced that becoming a hospital doctor was the coolest thing on the planet. This completed the cultural task of giving the medical profession top status, eclipsing the work of Raymond Burr in “Perry Mason” who had done so much to make the defense attorney seem the most desirable job. So the boomers grew up with the fixed idea that becoming a doctor and saving lives in a hospital setting was “the” career path to follow. One of the first victims of this transference was the role of primary care physician working in their offices or local clinics. Although a socially necessary position, it lacked charisma and, from the 1960s onward, it grew challenging to persuade newly qualified doctors to work more anonymously. Only those with a social conscience followed this path, taking less money and working longer hours than those who stayed in secondary and tertiary care. That’s why, today, the vast majority of primary physicians are old and coming up to retirement.health3

Primary healthcare has become a grind with doctors seeing an endless supply of patients for just a few minutes at a time. Gone are the days when a caring old guy would know every last detail of the generations he had brought into the world. The modern doctor has seconds to decide what is wrong with the patient and which prescription to write before calling in the next piece of meat. That makes it almost impossible for the average patient to go through a full diagnostic examination unless money is available to pay for a referral. It is equally impossible for the front-line doctor to tell the difference between a genuine patient and a drug addict looking for the next bottle of pills. That is one of the reasons why the level of prescription drug abuse is so high in the US. It is ironic that people who find life unbearable should seek the help of primary caregivers whose lives are equally unbearable.

Skin Care for seniors: A Closer Look

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Our skin tends to change as we grow older. A baby’s skin has a much thick fat layer and a much thinner epidermis. The presence of high percentage of hyaluronic acid makes babies skin more smooth and soft. Babies regenerate stratum corneum (the outermost layer where new skin cells are formed) in as little as 14 days, whereas the same regeneration process takes 37 days in a 50 year old.health1

As we grow old, it loses much of the underlying tissues that make our skin soft and supple. As time goes, collagen depletes from the dermis. Collagen depletion makes our skin thinner and less supple and causes it to sag. In addition to this, decreased blood flow to our skin results in slower healing.
Elderly skins are more sensitive to clothing fabrics, soaps, detergents and other items encountered in everyday living. Find out the cause of the itchiness or rash and get rid of the product may help reduce the itchiness.

SKIN CARE for SENIORS

Keep the skin clean: Try always to keep the seniors skin clean. This applies especially to the feet, groin and armpits. People who sweat too much should wear loose, absorbent clothing that will soak the wetness away. If the skin stays wet too long it may prone to fungal infection and rashes.

Avoid hot baths: Try to avoid hot baths and frequent showering. This will dry out skin further. Bathing once every day is always recommended if the senior doesn’t get physically dirty.

Chemical Perfumes: Try to find a product that doesn’t have chemical perfumes and chemical dyes as they may contain harsh detergents that may cause rash.

Hydrated skin: Elders with dry skin should always be hydrated to avoid potential problems like cracking, pain and itchiness. After shower, do not dry them off too much. After shower, apply a light coating of skin moisturizer or body lotion. If tour elder goes out during the day, apply a moisturizer with sunscreen.

Effective Treatments for Ball Of Foot Pain

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Stopping foot pain before it begins is the best way to not have painful foot surgeries later. Despite the fact that many people ignore foot pain for months, pretending that the pain doesn’t exist or wishing it would just go away are not appropriate responses to the foot pain situation. With few changes to the way feet are treated, pain can be a thing of the past. Here are a few reasons why metatarsalgia occurs, how to cure foot conditions such as Achilles tendinitis, and how minor changes, such as using insoles for high heels, can help.health

High Heels Can Spell Trouble for Feet

High heels can cause an array of problems for feet. From the tight toe box (the area surrounding the front of the foot) to the angle of incline, these shoes can do quite a bit of internal damage to feet. First, when feet and toes are forced into a narrow shoe, as it does in a high heeled shoe, the mid-foot and toe areas are forced into an extremely narrow space. The ligaments, tendons and muscles are strained into a much smaller space than what the foot requires. Over time, nerves become squashed, blood flow is restricted to areas of the foot (particularly in the toes) and problems with the feet occur.

Ball Of Foot Pain and How to Treat It

Foot pain and soreness can be rubbed away with a gentle massage. The mild movement of the muscle fibers opens up the flow of blood to the region. Massage also brings healing, oxygen-rich blood into the affected foot. Once muscles are relaxed, aggravated nerves can begin to decrease how often they are firing and pain relief results. If muscles and nerve endings are extremely irritated by a certain pair of shoes or an activity, swelling will be present. In that case, it is recommended to apply ice for 15 minutes at a time to relieve the swelling. Elevation of the feet above the heart during this time is also very effective in allowing the extra fluids to be taken away by the lymph system from the foot.
