Women Have Concerns About Health Care Reform

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

A recent study conducted on behalf of The Independent Women’s Forum disclosed that health tending was one of many economic concerns for dweller women. Only 16 percent said it was the top issue facing Congress and meet over half the respondents placed health tending among the leading three. Yet the people in Washington have placed this issue ahead of everyday living expenses, forcefulness costs, unemployment and another financial problems. It’s interesting that two-thirds of those surveyed conceive reform is more for another people than themselves. They would prefer not being included in any proposed changes (54%). This was confirmed when 57 percent of respondents indicated they do not see a government-run organisation is best for their needs. And, a whopping 75 percent want few to no changes to their own health tending program. Less than 10 percent of respondents are hunting for action in the next few weeks with most wishing for a quality bill kinda than one with artificial deadlines.

The toll tag of health tending reform has major political implications. A cost of $829 billion over the next 10 years was deemed to too high by a plurality of women and 55 percent believe this figure is underestimated compared to what will actually be spent. Therefore, 45 percent would be less likely to balloting for a candidate supporting this amount or more; and 67 percent would not balloting for someone in souvenir of moving people from private to government-run health care.

How to Get Prescription Drugs out of Your Tap Water

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

One of the consequences of being “one nation under drugs” is being exposed to toxic, prescription drug metabolites via your tap water! Fortunately, with the right water filter, you can avoid it.health4

Drug giant Merck recently warned that “There’s no doubt about it, pharmaceuticals are being detected in the environment and there is genuine concern that these compounds, in the small concentrations that they’re at, could be causing impacts to human health and aquatic organisms.” To wit, officials in Philadelphia identified 56 pharmaceuticals or by-products in tap water. Such medications included pain meds, cholesterol lowering drugs, birth control pills, antidepressants and blood pressure meds! None of which belong in little Johnny’s “sippy cup.”

Don’t expect your city to be any different. The federal government doesn’t require any testing or safety limits for drugs in tap water. Protect yourself with the right water filter!

The market is flooded with various types of water filters - microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis reversal, membrane bioreactors, and combinations of membranes in series. At the conference on Wastewater Reclamation and Reuse for Sustainability it was shown that reverse osmosis filters were the most effective at removing all pollutants, including pharmaceuticals.

Leg Swelling

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

The general cause of a leg swell is the additional fluid that gathers in the lower extremity tissues. If this swelling remains and is indented by a finger it is termed as Edema Pitting. There can also be other less usual causes for this problem that include Eosinophilic fasciitis and scleroderma which result in the thickness of the skin. In these cases, the leg swelling is characterized by non-pitting edema. Some of the main causes of pitting edema include Cellulitis, Baker Cyst, Congestive Heart Failure, Eosinophilic-Fasciitis, Kidney Failure, Cirrhosis of the Liver, and Scleroderma.health3

In Cellulitis, the skin and the tissues under it get bacterially infected. As the area is initially it eventually gets larger, swells and becomes reddish.

The leg swelling due to baker cyst is a result of the protruding of knee joint fluid behind the knee cap.

In congestive heart failure, the heart is not properly able to perform its blood pumping function to the different organs of the body. This in result effects all the body organs directly or indirectly as reduction in blood supply causes the different parts of the body to work improperly and some vital parts of the body like kidneys don’t work properly and effect the other parts of the body.

Eosinophilic-Fasciitis is a specific subtype of white blood cells. Their number should not increase the normal biological limit set by nature. Fascia is the name of a tissue under the skin to cover underlying tissues surface. In Eosinophilic-Fasciitis skin inflammation and thickening occurs and the fascia underneath swells result in legs swelling.
